New construction Abbing Buitenhof

Harco Bolhuis, the owner of garden center Abbing, entrusted us with developing, realizing, and supervising the entire concept for Abbing Buitenhof. This collaboration allowed us to create a unique design alongside the entrepreneur.

Design Concept:

We opted for a design that blends modern and botanical greenhouse aesthetics, considering both function and appearance. The central entrance takes the form of a round greenhouse, referencing traditional botanical greenhouses and offering a unique shape. This, combined with the sleeker, wider-span greenhouses surrounding it, creates a cohesive whole and embraces the central "courtyard" area. To provide an optimal outdoor experience and connection with the natural elements, we selected a fully-openable greenhouse type, which we call the Rovero-type greenhouse.

Legacy and Expansion:

A massive outdoor sales area attached to the rear of the property has served as a space for selling outdoor plants and related items for over 129 years. Abbing's traditional nursery holds a strong reputation in the region, and the new building marks the beginning of a new era. GardenCenterAdvice had the opportunity to work on both the exterior and interior design of the project.

Optimizing the Customer Experience:

By analyzing optimal customer routing and space allocation, we achieved a well-balanced product range. Additionally, our involvement in supplier selection allows for ongoing monitoring of the entire concept and adjustments to be made when necessary in the future.
